Lizzy Young - Brooklyn, NY
Originally from the suburbs of Paris, she found her way through Barcelona to the streets of New York city, where she’s been based for the last 10 years.
Dividing her time between acting and playing bass in bands, she started performing solo as Lizzy young, giving a stage to her own particular take on pop.
Even if Gary Wilson and Nico had a baby, Alan Vega and Wesley Willis had a threesome with Debbie Harry, or if Cindy Lauper suddenly got sad for some reason, nothing comes close to describing the unpolished beauty of Lizzy Young’s poetry.
One moment she might be singing about her loved ones’ bodily functions, only to continue singing about love, death and depression; all of this just to remind us that everything is beautiful and everything is ugly.
Her first single God is pink came out on Manimal records in January 2020.
Her LP Coocoo Banana was released on GFY in October 2020.
